McMinnville's Green Dentist

Apr 5, 2013

We have been working hard to incorporate the newest technologies and all of the latest approaches in dentistry to ensure that you can know Dr. Diesburg as McMinnville's green dentist. "Being a green practice is simply the right thing to do," Dr. Diesburg said. "Overall health -- and we're talking about our own health, the health of our kids and the health of our environment --  is at the forefront of what we are." Here are some ways we are making changes to ensure when you come to us you are choosing the best choice for yourself, your family and the world around you.

  • Paperless charts
We scan health histories and store all of our patient information in digital form using our new paperless charting system. In addition to saving paper resources, it allows us, though encrypting technology, to ensure patient privacy
  • Digital X-rays
Our new digital X-Ray system, introduced in 2012, eliminates the use of traditional Mylar plates and chemical fixatives used to create radio graphs, or X-Rays. The new systems uses reusable phosphorous plates to create digital images, vastly reducing the amount of dangerous chemicals put into the environment. This also allows for easy transfer of information between Dr. Diesburg and area specialists. These X-Rays use 75% less radiation than traditional radio graphs, as well as less electricity in the process.
  • Steam-based sterilization                                                                                                                                          Our office employs two steam-based surgical-grade instrument sterilization units, which use water instead of harmful chemicals.
  • Green cleaning lines
Our office switched to a non-chlorinated cleansing line to clean the water lines that run through the dental chair you sit in during treatment, reducing the amount of chemicals that end up in local aquifers
  • Water filtration                                                                                                                                                           Our water filtration system, installed several years ago, siphons out old alloy (metal) fillings and ensures mercury does not get into the environment.
  • A living practice
We believe our practice doesn't end when we leave its walls and have installed well-visited bird feeders outside of our patient room windows.

We would be happy to talk to you about all of the measures we're taking to make your experience here great. Next time you visit us, lean back, enjoy the chirping birds and know you are making the best decision for your overall health.
